How Can severe Hair Loss Along With Depression be Treated?

I have had hypothyroidism for 20 years and have been taking levothyroxine every day. Recently I have had more exaggerated symptoms of thyroids disease such as hair loss, fatigue, unable to loss weight and depression. My doctor has ordered a TSH test. Can you explain why?

The synptoms you are describing can be part of hypothyroidism. Your doctor ordered a TSH which is thyroid stimulating hormone. That along with a T4 level can give indicationof the functioning of your thyroid at present. Depening on the result he can then adjust your medication accordingly. If symptoms like depression and fatigue persists further evaluation is needed
